now claiming that vladimir putin wants to seize all of eastern ukraine by march. that, as we're seeing an uptick in the training of ukrainian troops on u.s. soil and in europe ahead of what military officials tell me will be a significant intensification of fighting in the coming months. whit? >> matt gutman in ukraine again for us tonight. thank you. turning to the search for answers after a devastating plane crash in nepal. crews have now found the black boxes and are recovering bodies from the deep gorge where the plane went down. at least 69 are confirmed dead, three more missing or also feared dead. the plane going down just moments before landing. abc's britt clennett in depal's capital, kathmandu. >> reporter: tonight, in this thousand-foot deep george in the shadow of the himalayas, some 300 searchers continue to look for victims and clues amid the wreckage of nepal's worst air disaster in 30 years. officials displaying the cockpit voice and data recorders they recovered today, said to be in good condition.

the twin engine turbo prop aircraft operated by nepal's yeti airlines took off from the capital of kathmandu for a short half-hour flight to pokhara, known as a haven for tourists. one minute from landing, watch closely as the plane banks sharply to the left before exploding. an airport spokesman says the pilot requested to change runways before the crash, and it was granted. and while weather is known to change rapidly here, as you can see, the skies were clear and blue at the time of the crash. since 2000, some 350 people have died in plane or helicopter crashes in nepal. the european union has banned nepali planes from its airspace since 2013, citing safety concerns. it's happening again. it's this deja vu here in nepal. >> the system must be improved, so that such type of accident not happen in the future, so that we have a very robust system in place. >> reporter: whit, here in nepal, they've declared today a
